Day 13: Lunch

Up late again and so a very late lunch.

5pm Veg frankfurters, eggs, courgette and beans + juice + tea + half an orange

Something interesting happened today. I’ve collected enough nutritional information in the spreadsheet that I use to create these tables that I was able to plan what I was going to eat in advance.

I would normally have two eggs, two sausages, two slices of toast and half a tin of beans. Instead, I had one egg and one toast and fewer beans. I added half a sliced courgette to the pan instead.

1 serving calories protein carbs fat fibre
1 slice wholemeal bread 100 4.0 17.5 1.3 2.7
2 veg frankfurters 135 10.8 1.6 9.0 1.2
15g brown sauce 16   4.0
half a courgette 52 3.9 10.8 0.6
2ml rape seed oil 17     1.8
1 organic free range egg 93 7.8   6.8
150g reduced fat baked beans 113 6.5 18.2 0.8 5.7
10g grated half-fat cheddar cheese 26 2.9   1.6
200ml orange juice 84 1.2 18.8
Total 635 37.1 70.9 21.9 9.6

It’s still a lot of calories but it’s a lot less than what I used to have! Gosh.

Cookie Calories

Oh boy, I didn’t mean to buy, nor eat, those cookies just now.

135 calories each. I confess to eating 4.

But, I can confirm Tesco Finest Half Coated Triple Chocolate Cookies are delicious. ANd at 88p, for a pack of 8, good value I thought!

Leftovers

I have to admit a certain dislike to ‘normal’ breakfast choices. I often find myself eating normal lunch / dinner type meals for breakfast.

I also often find myself eating leftovers for breakfast. Such as today.

A few days ago I cooked a big load of pasta, wholewheat, with some salmon, some red peppers, some pepperoni, and a jar of (Lloyd Grossman) tomato and mascarpone sauce. A real caloryfest. I think the batch I cooked must have been well over 1000 calories. I ate about 2/3rds and put the rest in a container in the fridge.

I’m hungry, I thought, this morning. And this is what came out of the fridge…

Square Pasta

Gosh, how unappetising does that look? But that’s the confessional nature of leftovers, they rarely look good, but they invariably taste delicious.

Especially pizza.
