Okay, after many weeks, I’m becoming shocked how little food 1200 calories is. Just that cupcake is a quarter of the total. I don’t know how many calories I consume, but it must certainly be twice as much.
As we said in email, it’s visible to see how exercise helps weight loss, you can do exercise, and eat more for the same result – the same resulting calory deficit. I know when I was doing a lot of exercise I just loved being able to eat *even more*. Sadly, I stopped exercising, but didn’t stop eating!
I’d find it very hard to just reduce eating, I’m admiring your commitment!

I guessed the cupcake info for the blog; the first calorie site I found reckoned it’d be 160 calories but, remembering the cupcake, I knew it was more. Weight Watchers says the average is 250 cals, I think. I then found an article which mentions a 6oz cupcake with 750 calories from a famous bakery…
Ya think you know about food but there are still shocks along the way. I still can’t get over the 1,300-calorie veg meal at JD Wetherspoon!
Re: commitment, I don’t think I could do it if I weren’t making my food diary public. Photographing makes me think twice before I plan a meal, plate it up, decide whether to have seconds, or decide whether to eat late at night if I’m hungry.
That all said, I’m the happiest I’ve been in a long time and will blog about it. :-)
