Emma’s birthday not-quite-blow-out
Emma celebrated her 18th birthday on Saturday. I went over to give her her pressies in the morning and then she and her bf went to Giraffe for a light brunch and some shopping. Her dad and I met her for lunch at 2:30 (hence the need for an elevensies snack) at Carluccios. Once again I had the pan fried chicken, but gave about a third of it to David. That evening, Emma came over to my place with a bunch of her friends (they were going to meet on Richmond Green but the uncertain weather caused her to change venue). They ordered Dominos and I joined in. I’d also bought some small cakes to share, one with a candle in so Emma could have the old Happy-Birthday-singsong-and-blow-the-candle-out thing. It was the first sweet thing (other than fruit) I’d eaten in over a week and actually, it left me feeling a bit sick for a while, so I won’t be doing that again!
Dominos has all the nutritional information on their website (see food-guide link at the bottom of the homepage if you haven’t already found it). I had to calculate my pizza as they only show figures for small (9.5″), not personal (7″). So I looked at the weight (253 cals per 100g and guessed it weighed about 300g.

How interesting that the cake made you feel sick. I wonder whether your cold-turkey is gonna change your tolerance for mega-sweet things so that it will be self-limiting (and not be will-power alone) in future.
