Feeling rubbish – no appetite

I’ve had a really rubbish day at work. My manager finally gave me my appraisal today and it was by far the worst I’ve ever had in my life. The comments he included were absolutely ludicrous and to be honest, anyone reading it would laugh. It marks an absolute nadir in my relationship with him and has left me feeling so demotivated, so unhappy and so stressed that I honestly don’t want to go into work tomorrow and it’s going to take every ounce of willpower to force myself in. Meanwhile, as I sit here, crying as I type this, I have absolutely no appetite whatsoever. I stayed late today to get a new course ready for tomorrow. I honestly don’t know why I bothered.

Just edited this to add I did just over 13000 steps on the pedometer.

6:45pm  Carrot and apple soup with bread

I was very hungry when it came to dinner time. This was the last of my soup and so I had about half the quantity I’d normally have; I padded it out with bread.

I was still feeling hungry after I finished this. It’s a very uncomfortable feeling as it’s in my head rather than being a tummy-rumbling hunger. Maybe I find it so disquieting because it has me in its grip and I worry about how much I would have to eat to satisfy it.

I wondered what I could eat that was filling without adding many calories and thought about raw carrot or cucumber. Instead, I did some tidying up and the washing up – both sufficiently distracted me long enough from the urgency to eat that I decided to a) have a hot chocolate and b) do my food diary, because I never eat after posting the day’s totals.

I am very glad I did not give in to the feeling to keep eating. A temporary distraction seems to have worked more than once during my diet.
