12 noon  Melon and bean salad with rye bread + tea

I made a salad with melon, cucumber, red onion, cannellini beans and a tub of unopened Quark past its use-by date. The Quark is lovely as a dressing loosened with lemon and olive oil. It needed a crunch, such as peanuts. But the salad wasn’t filling and I ate every couple of hours.

Alcohol Addition

I’ve been waking up repeatedly in the night needing a pee and yesterday at 9pm I’d already had 1.5 litres of water, plus a diet coke, plus two cups of green tea, plus an extra large mug of Mate. I’m not suffering from a shortage of liquids.

However, sitting at the computer in the evening, I find I keep drinking out of habit, or something to do with my hands, or something. Last night, I went looking for something in the kitchen to nibble on, something without salt but that might distract me from sipping water.

“If you have the calories left,” said Cliff, “why not just have a glass of wine?” I had plenty of calories left but I’ve been avoiding having a drink as he can’t have one. I argued briefly and then decided it sounded like quite a nice idea. I had two large glasses of wine and then I slept like a baby! I think my alcohol tolerance might have dropped a bit.

On the other hand, I’m VERY tired today – probably a case of the wine being empty calories?

After today, I’m going to change my tracking system and instead of noting the names of meals (snack, snack1, lunch etc) I’m going to note the time. It’ll be interesting to see how the timings change I think.

Meal Food | Drink Calories
Breakfast Yogurt 69
Sub-total 69
Lunch 60g cooked rice 78
40g plain yogurt 28
mushroom and chard curry 194
Sub-total 300
Dinner 50g sausage 173
Pita 143
115g zucchini 18
low-fat yogurt 80
50g cucumber 8
lemon juice 8
1g mint 1
125g tomato 25
Sub-total 456
Dessert Peach Yogurt 54
Sub-total 54
Snack Wine – 2 glasses 250
Chocolate – 6g 23
Sub-total 273
Total 1,152

Note: Sadly, the curry was not very nice which is why I didn’t write down the recipe. Sadly, I made a triple batch so I’ll have to force it down a few more times. On the bright side, the courgette-sausage balls were quite good and very flavourful considering how little sausage I had.
