Workout with Sales Shopping!
Emma goes off on a week long holiday to Ibiza with her boyfriend Chris in 10 days. As a prelude to this, naturally she wants to ensure she has the finest possible wardrobe, so to this end, she and I headed to Kingston for a bit of a spree. After brunch in a small Italian cafe just off the main drag we were ready to hit the shops.
For nearly 4 hours, we went into every clothes store that sold anything remotely like the kind of stuff Emma would wear (so not Monsoon, Dorothy Perkins or M&S). I should have worn my pedometer so I could have kept track on how far I walked. Emma was joined by Chris-the-bf, so I left them to go off while I went and got my hair done. And very nice it looks too.
Having had a pretty much wheat-free week, I gave into my craving and had pasta this evening — delicious!

Day 181: New house cleaned
Morning drink: tea
Kerfufle in the morning, trying to deal with two sets of people – ringing doorbells, rushing around with keys. Exhilarating but hectic, with no time to eat.
1pm Cottage cheese salad with toast + clementine + tea
I wanted to eat a lot more but made a normal portion knowing that it’d be enough for now and that I might want to eat again two hours later.

5:30pm Popcorn with salt
Made with my 11 yr-old neighbour who’d helped me pack glasses in the kitchen.
6:30pm Cabbage with yoghurt + frozen banana
I was missing a ‘meat’. Cheddar is a bit cloying with this – I wished I hadn’t used all the mozzarella in the salad earlier.

9pm Chocolate with tea
Feeling exhausted again – I haven’t done much physical work today (Sunday will be mad as a result) but it’s a nice physical tiredness now. It’s good to be this kind of tired and know I have a nice bed to writhe in before I fall asleep. I think back to the times I’ve HAD to stay up and longed to sleep, and I appreciate the fact that I can all the more now.

Hmm, I feel that I have redeemed myself after the 1,900-calorie shock. But I think that I should be eating more over the next few days.
Oh, it’s weigh-in day tomorrow! I completely lost track of what day of the week it was!
Can’t Trust ‘em
I was at the supermarket that doesn’t have the butchers, having realised that by buying prepackaged meats I can get calorie counts. I found some “lean sausages” which showed 173 calories per hundred grams. I checked them against “village sausages” by the same company, they are nice and I wanted to see what the difference was. 173 calories per hundred grams. I checked the rest of the packaging. EVERYTHING by this one company is 173 calories per hundred grams.
Huh?
Then someone sent me this:
The Tarts that were too good to be true… and the Starbucks Boycott Begins
She queried the apricot tart as the calorie count seemed low. They changed their nutrition information.
“The calorie count jumped from 120 to 280! MORE THAN DOUBLE! Bringing this item up from a respectable 3 points to a terrifying 6 POINTS!”
Ugh.
I think I’m going back to making everything from scratch. :(
Day 180: Contract signed
Please note that I won’t be posting food diaries from Sunday. I know I don’t have to, but I might Twitter the day’s calorie total until I’m back online. I don’t plant to track what I eat on Monday – moving day – but Perfectionist Paola might have other ideas!
1pm Cheese and pickle sandwich + banana + tea
I took too much pickle initially and put some back in the jar – I don’t think I’ve ever done that before!
