Day 36 – Feeling Good

I’m feeling good about myself today. Don’t fall off your chairs in shock.

I haven’t had a headache all day. I’ve had some nice things to eat today without going overboard and haven’t felt particularly hungry. I’ve lost some weight despite being on my period. I’ve had my hair done. I’m wearing my nice skinny jeans and a top that suits me. I had a real “good to be alive” buzz after my exercise routine.

It’ll all go to pot tomorrow, but hey, today is good.

Day 268: Camera shopping

9:40am  Cabbage on toast with sheep’s milk cheese + spiced tea + orange

I came up with the idea of this idea lying in bed last night. I wondered what to have with braised cabbage to add some crunch and a flavour punch. This MIGHT have turned out great if I hadn’t gone over-board with the cabbage by using up all that was left in the container. *sigh* As it is, I couldn’t taste the cheese.

2:10pm  Tomato, carrot and apple soup with beans and Finn Crisp + coffee

I’ve decided that I definitely don’t like soup with mushy bits in. I’m gonna have to buy a hand blender (having broken my regular blender). But soup is mega fab with broken up Finn Crisp and a dollop of yoghurt.

Day 36 – Weigh-In

30 September 2008 at 1:28 pm (weigh-in)

Posted by Georgina

Weekly weigh-in: 8st 12 (56.2kg) – 1lb (0.5kg) lost in last week – 6lb (2.8kg) overall

Gah, I was all set to have lost 2lb this week, but I put on weight just as my period started despite having been pretty careful what I ate this week and often coming under the goal. Maybe I’ll have super-fast weight loss next week to make up for it.

Going to make this quick and get to bed early (story of my life at the moment!)

Breakfast Tesco BREAKFAST CEREAL Rice Snaps 76
Milk 3.7% fat 61

Butter salted 36
Salad 18
Tesco DRESSING French 44
Tropicana SMOOTHIE – Strawberry & Banana 135

Was possibly a bit over generous with the portion of brie, but a) I was hungry and b) it needed using up. The latter is a poor excuse I know.

Meal Food | Drink Calories
Afternoon Tea Cup of Tea 49

Out of biscuits until next shopping delivery. I’m getting better at not buying lots in, especially of the junk.

Dinner Lasagne 701

I suspected the lasagne might be higher calorie than my normal dinners, but wasn’t quite expecting it to be that high – not so bad for today as it was a cycling day. However, I have leftovers for lunch tomorrow which could make the calorie count for tomorrow slightly … interesting.

Eating makes me hungry

29 September 2008 at 9:34 pm (thoughts)

Posted by Paola

This is my theory of why eating makes me hungry. By that I mean that I am sometimes MORE hungry straight after eating than I was before I ate.

stomach is relaxed, waiting for some action
food arrives – ooh!
party time – woo!
yeah, we’re partying – we’re waiting for more
hey, you out there, we’re PARTYING – we want more!
oh go on, give us more
oh well, whose turn was it?

I wonder whether a) eating VERY slowly would quieten the urgent rumblings in my stomach or whether it’s about b) eating ENOUGH the first time.

What do you think?

Day 267: Purple, not red

9am  Cheese and cabbage sandwich + tea

I got a big red (purple!) cabbage from Abel & Cole last week. I chopped some to use in salads and cooked the rest with vinegar, apple and spices. I used the raw cabbage as my substitute for lettuce in this sandwich.

I was gonna have an orange afterwards but put it back as I did feel full already.

Lazy Sunday

29 September 2008 at 12:06 am (food diary)

Posted by Ginni

It is so hot here today, its like an Indian Summer – hence, a lazy Sunday with a Big Sunday Lunch with some friends.

Potatoes and French Beans

Red Kidney Beans Curry

Spicy Cabbage Soup with carrots

And the usual Sunday Paranthas, yoghurt and spicy Mango pickle with Sweet Tea.

My diet for the day has gone out of the window. This was our Sunday brunch and I plan on skipping Dinner as I am still full at 6pm. Perhaps a glass of milk at night would be good.

I made enough soup to last me a couple of days, so that will be my lunch and dinner for the next 2 days.

@Paola – I will email you on our family history and a fab story about our family Sunday brunches.
