Day 247: Half asleep

Morning drink: fresh coffee

At mum’s, who’d fallen the night before and cracked her pelvis. She needed me and Frank there during the night to get her in and out of bed. I think I was up 5 times during the night – we were both utterly exhausted by the time I properly got up in time for the Care Manager’s meeting at 10am. She was there for 4 hours and we were both completely drained after she’d left. I was feeling tired and sick but thought I should eat something.

2pm  Cottage cheese with Krisproll + passion fruit

Total 291 19 44 6 8

(I’m gob-smacked by how many calories there are in a Krisproll!)

Motivated by the possibility of having to go into a nursing home temporarily, and with the aid of a foot stool, the three of us finally figured out how mum could get into bed by herself. Hurray!

Driving back home, my appetite returned. We stopped off at a late-opening Borders.

Day 246: Emergency visit

I over-slept, having accidentally left the heating on in the new house. I woke up groggy, finding a mail message from my brother and a phone message from my mother to say she’d cracked her pelvis in a fall again during the night and had gone to hospital for a few hours.

I was distracted and found it hard to concentrate for the rest of the day. When making a sandwich, I eyed the two remaining mini Crunchie bars, wanting one for comfort but making do with photographing them and telling you instead.

3:45am  Cottage cheese and mushroom salad + tea

Afternoon drink: pint of fizzy squash

8:30pm  Beans, corn and tomatoes with dumplings

Mum called after 5pm to say she couldn’t get in or out of bed alone during the night and could I come and stay the night. I ate just before we left so that I wouldn’t need anything else.

Day 15 – Just Another Tuesday

I’m definitely getting better at this “only one ’snack’ in the evenings” thing. To the point where I managed to fit in my treat to the exact calories left this evening. There’s something rather satisfying about getting the figure exactly to 0 calories left. Of course, this is where I discover that I got my sums wrong…

Meal Food | Drink Calories
Breakfast BREAD White, Toasted 106
Butter salted 36
MARMALADE Orange, Shredless, Average 26
Cup of Tea 49
Total 217

Disaster – we ran out of milk! So back to toast this morning.

Meal Food | Drink Calories
Lunch BREAD White, Medium Sliced 190
Butter salted 36
CHICKEN Wafer Thin, Average 12
Tropicana SMOOTHIE – Strawberry & Banana 135
Sainsburys Soft Cheese Dippers 37
Total 410

I only counted half the cals of the cheese dippers as they only provide 3 teeny breadsticks and it’s a physical impossibility to get all the cheese on it. I let my youngest son finish the other half of the cheese with the spoon. I figured that it was the cheese that was the bulk of the calories anyway.

Meal Food | Drink Calories
Afternoon Tea Cup of Tea 49
Bananas raw 105
Total 154

Was really hungry by 3pm, so fought off the pangs with a banana.

Meal Food | Drink Calories
Dinner Chilli Con Carne 284
Rice white, long-grain, regular, cooked 195
Doritos DORITOS Corn Chips, Cool Original 51
Total 530

I really enjoyed this – the chilli was about the one thing that’s been able to blast through to my taste buds these last few days!

Meal Food | Drink Calories
Late Cadbury HOT CHOCOLATE Instant Break 119
GIN 37.5% Volume 52
Schweppes TONIC WATER Indian 66
Total 237

The G&T was the treat that fitted exactly into my remaining calorie allocation. It was obviously a sign.

Meal Food | Drink Calories
Exercise Exercise Bike (warm up 5 mins) -53
Strength Training (20 mins) -136
Total -189

Got the strength training out of the way early on in the day – was glad I did because I started to feel rough with cold again in the afternoon and would probably have skipped it otherwise.

So, time for the final scores.

Meal Food | Drink Calories
Breakfast Toast, marmalade and tea 217
Lunch Chicken sandwich, cheese dippers and a smoothie 410
Afternoon Tea Cup of tea and a banana 154
Dinner Chilli con carne, rice and a small helping of corn chips 530
Late G&T and hot choc 237
Exercise Warm up and strength training -189
Total 1,359

Yay, 1359 calories exactly. Result.

Day 15 – Weigh In

9 September 2008 at 10:03 am (weigh-in)

Posted by Georgina

Weekly weigh-in: 9st 2 (58.1kg) – 2lb (0.9kg) lost in last week – 2lb (0.9kg) overall

On paper looks fairly good but I’ve been up and down all over the place this week. Plus, that was the weight I was just before my period where I gained 2lb back then lost it again afterwards, so I’m fairly sure that’s all water weight. Bah.

Still, no more meals out for a while, should be able to start making steady progress. According to Food Focus my target daily cals has been adjusted to 1608, but I think given that I’ve been achieving lower than that regularly this last week (Saturday being the exception) I might put in on the next setting down which gives me target daily cals of 1359.

New target daily calories after exercise: 1359
