Why I’ve added my past food diaries
Even though I was too busy to post my food diaries, I was still taking photos and noting what I ate. But, as I saw my notes pile up, I started to think I’d just pick up the food diary again once work eased up.
When I thought that no one was watching anymore, it started to affect how I thought about my food. A few times I figured I could just keep eating biscuits and no one would know. So I promised myself that I’d add all the food diaries eventually to temper my consumption of food.
I have to keep food diarying if I am to keep losing weight. And maybe I’ll even have to continue food-diarying after I’ve reached my target weight.
Day 356: Boxing Day
At my mum’s house for Christmas.
10:10am Feta salad sandwich with cranberry sauce + tea

12:30pm Dressed mixed salad with Quorn escalope and sweet potato mash with cream cheese

4:15pm Half a Rocky Road + tea @ Starbucks

7:10pm Lettuce, feta and sun-dried tomato salad
Back home from mum’s house.

8pm Three shortcake biscuits + Happy Hippo + Belgian chocolate truffle
I felt sick afterwards. I should have just had one at a time, going back for more if I felt the need to.

Day 355: Christmas Day
1:30pm Christmas lunch
My first meal was Christmas lunch which I prepared with my brother at my mother’s house.
Steamed asparagus with feta dressed in lemon juice and extra virgin olive oil. (The meat-eaters also had smoked salmon with cream cheese.)

Quorn lemon and pepper escalope and cranberry sauce (jam) with baked pepper, brussel sprouts, sweet potato mash with cream cheese, and a mixed salad. Plus sparkling wine and diet ginger beer.

I later added some of the stuffing.

2pm Ben & Jerry’s mango and berry sorbet (lower in calories than ice cream) + fresh coffee

3:10pm Belgian chocolate truffles
(Given to me by my 9 yr old neighbour.)

7:30pm Baked apples with orange-soaked sultanas, meringue and custard
A Delia Smith recipe. A lower-calorie alternative to the usual Christmas pudding and panetone

9:15pm Stuffing and cheese salad with cranberry sauce + ginger beer

9:40pm Belgian chocolate truffles + port

Day 354: Christmas Eve
5:30pm Cranberry and camembert panini + crisps + chocolate florentine + tea @ Costa Coffee
I figured I deserved a treat and so went for half a bag of crisps AND half a large chocolate florentine-type flap-jack. I wished later I’d just had one treat since the panini was about 460 calories by itself.

10:35pm Crackerbread with mozzarella, ham and tomato + squash
At my mum’s house for a couple of nights.
