There’s a party in my tummy !

My tummy is rumbling and I am surrounded by food, yet nothing that I want to eat. I am doing my first ever catering job, 450 women at a Charity event, Women’s Night out – raising funds for educating young girls with vocational skills in India.

I am doing a trio of appetisers – Aloo tikki with Chana Masala, Cocktail size Paneer Samosa with Tamarind Chutney and Pakoras. The main course is my signature dish Butter chicken with rice, naan bread, Eggplant curry and Bombay Potatoes. Dessert is another trio – Coconut dipped Gulab Jamuns, Sweet Saffron rice with almonds & raisins, and Carrot halwa.

I also have to cook for the coffee shop sales this weekend and I have just come back from sending out a meal for 20 doctors who were having a meeting at my doctor’s surgery.

Apart from the tamarind chutney there’s nothing in here that says to me, ‘eat me!’. I am not eating at set times anymore and there is no distinction between breakfast and lunch or lunch and dinner, I just grab something when  I am hungry.

Breakfast @ 9am:-

2 Paranthas (160 cal) with Eggplant curry (120 cal) and a Cup of tea (50 cal)

Lunch – was not hungry as had heavy breakfast

Dinner – 2 slices of Pizza with a can of diet coke (260 each)

Total calories for today: – 840 cal

It is 11.26pm now, so I am unlikely to eat anything now, but I will be working for a little while yet…. I need to buy a lock for my mouth!

By the way, if any of you young ladies would like some Indian spice mixes, please let me know… I am roasting and grinding my own mixes which are doing quite well at the stores here now, along with my frozen samosas, handmade rotis, paranthas etc. Take a look at this:-http://www.calgaryherald.com/health/Translating+butter+chicken/1898307/story.html

Before you say anything, yes Jakey is going swimming 4 times a week to lose some weight.

Now, while she admits that her market cafe lacks the ambience of the Moti Mahal, she feels that her butter chicken recipe will satisfy many palates. Kathuria says her secret is that she personally roasts and grinds the ingredients for her spice mix. And then she slow-cooks the chicken and the sauce. This makes the chicken more tender and intensifies the flavour. The result is a richly flavoured dish that’s less creamy than many versions seen in local buffets. The spicing is gentle, yet complex and rich, and the emphasis is on the balance between the chicken and the sauce.

Invite me over to dinner right-now-please!

Wow, it sounds as if you’re doing loads.

I wonder whether those meal-in-a-biscuit things might suit you if you’re running around at work.

Try to up the protein and veg and decrease carbs such as bread.

Umm, I couldn’t think of the phrase. I meant meal replacement bars.

I found two sources just now: ZonePerfect seems to do products with a 40:30:30 carb, fat and protein ratio. And there are lots of meal replacement bars on Amazon.

I am really bad with those replacement bars. Simply cos they don’t look like meals, I don’t feel like I have eaten and I end up eating two of those at a time and before I know it, I would have finished the entire packet of 6 by the end of the day AND had a meal. I stay away from those like the plague now !!
