Drive Thru Madness and Me

This week I seem to be breaking all of my dieting rules. I’ve avoided breakfast, I’ve snacked instead of eating regular meals and today, I went through the drive-thru at Mcdonalds when I was peckish and got myself a “snack” (all 350 calories worth!). I ask myself: what is the point of eating nutritious but small meals when you are just going to get some greasy rubbish later on? I should have eaten properly at lunchtime.

Right, rant over. Time to get back to dieting.

I really should have had breakfast because it meant I was starving by the afternoon and so it was easy to fall into snacking…

Steak as An End-Of-Week Treat

The chocolate chip cookie, whilst nice was no way nice enough to be 200 calories. Should have been stronger and only eaten half. I then got home and didn’t feel like lunch so had two snacks throughout the afternoon.

My policy of buying half the amount of meat I used to is really working well. In the bad, old days I would eaten the entire steak (instead of splitting it between the two of us)

Thursday Pizza Without Too Much Damage

Because Thursday is the day were we do a lot of chores in the evening, we have a tradition of getting a take-away pizza. We decided to try and get a “take and bake” one to see if we could cut the calories. (and also so that we could have a more accurate picture of what the calories are) I was really pleased that I was able to make choices when faced with the calorie content of the foods I’d bought. To make a fair comparison, I bought garlic bread and chicken pieces from the shop as well. (as that is the meal we usually get from Dominos)

On another note, I got some wooden wine cases (without the wine) from Berry Bros. and sowed some chard and lettuce seeds and I am really, really excited by the prospect of my own vegetables. I already have spinach, brocolli, leeks and cabbage and every day I tend them lovingly. As someone who doesn’t always eat healthily, growing my own veg has made me eat better. (but not on pizza night)

Step Away from the Malt Loaf

The malt loaf was lovely but not really worth the calories. I’d wish I’d stopped and thought that whilst I was eating the second piece.
