Heading in the Right Direction
Down by .3 of a kilo – not a lot but at least I’m heading in the right direction again.
Day 635: Battersea Fair
10:15am Half a glass of milk
Just before getting a train into London.

1:30pm Pasta with mozarella, tomatoes and spinach @ Oriel
It was a chicken pasta dish without the chicken but with a side order of spinach added.

3:50pm Cake + tea

7:50 Cottage cheese and turkey salad with tortilla wrap w/spread + coffee

8:50pm Frozen berries and ginger biscuit with yoghurt

Day 635: weigh-in
Weigh-in: 1 lb lost hurray!
Total lost: 61 lbs / 4 st 5 lbs / 27.7g in 91 weeks
Current weight: 153 lbs / 10 st 13 lbs / 69.5 kg
This is the first time I’ve lost weight since the start of June!
Day 634: Cake club
I added notes to the inside cupboard door for my plates with the improved calorie counts from yesterday.

11:20pm Porridge with sultanas, fake butter and sweetener + tea
Weighed, thus pre-calorie counted. It exploded in the microwave again.

1:10pm Beef and bean coconut chilli with yoghurt and olive oil + tea
Too cold for salad.

My first attempt at a pumpkin pie adapted from a Delia recipe, made for the afternoon’s cake club. I whipped the remaining cream with ground roasted pecans and a little vanilla sugar. The cream was much nicer than the pie!

3:50pm Pumpkin pie with cream + tea

4pm Pumpkin pie with cream + tea

I was hungry after the cake club!
5:30pm Cottage cheese salad with sweet chilli yoghurt + tea

5:50pm Frozen berries with yoghurt + coffee
Not weighed. I just took as much as I wanted (anything would have been too much).

6:20pm Pumpkin pie with cream + coffee
*sigh* And it wasn’t even that nice. But I told myself I wouldn’t eat again today.

Day 633: Pumpkin pie
Oops, I accidentally deleted today’s food photos.
10:40am Porridge oats + tea
Made with oats, water, milk, sultanas and pumpkin seeds. Served with fake butter and sweetener. The instructions said 50g a portion. I used 70g and it was loads.
| 1 serving | calories | protein | carbs | fat | fibre |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2g sweetener | 8 | 0.0 | 1.8 | 0.0 | 0.0 |
| 100ml semi-skimmed milk | 49 | 3.4 | 5.0 | 1.7 | 0.0 |
| 18g sultanas | 53 | 0.5 | 12.5 | 0.1 | 0.4 |
| 11g pumpkin seeds | 64 | 3.2 | 1.7 | 5.0 | 0.6 |
| 29g fake butter | 103 | 0.0 | 0.9 | 11.0 | 0.0 |
| 70g oats | 252 | 3.9 | 21.1 | 2.9 | 3.0 |
| Total | 528 | 11 | 43 | 21 | 4 |
Oops!
If I’d made it with water only, 50g oats, 2g sweetener, 10g sultanas and 20g of fake butter comes to 288 calories.
2:10pm Cottage cheese salad + tea
3:25pm Frozen berries with yoghurt
| 1 serving | calories | protein | carbs | fat | fibre |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2g sweetener | 8 | 0.0 | 1.8 | 0.0 | 0.0 |
| 126g frozen berries | 43 | 1.1 | 9.2 | 0.1 | 2.8 |
| 201g low-fat yoghurt | 141 | 11.1 | 15.7 | 3.0 | 0.0 |
| Total | 191 | 12 | 27 | 3 | 3 |
Hmm. 120g frozen berries + 145g low-fat yoghurt with 2g sweetener would be 150 calories. A much better total.
Afternoon drink: pint of fizzy squash
6pm Two pieces of roasted pumpkin with olive oil
After roasting pumpkin for the pumpkin pie I’m making for my turn at hosting the cake club tomorrow.
6:15pm Tomato and coconut beef chilli with dumplings
Ingredients: passata, reduced-fat coconut milk, beef-style pieces, aduki beans, sweetcorn and onions. Flavoured with paprika, fresh chilli and lots of garlic. With wholemeal dumplings. Served with yoghurt and extra virgin olive oil.
I made myself use a small glass bowl. I ate it slowly. It was so yum, I had another bowl immediately, not waiting as promised. :-( I vowed not to have anything else to eat today. I felt really very full afterwards.
8pm Pecan nuts * 4
Picked at while baking tomorrow’s pie.
Still feeling full.
Next Week Will Be Better
I’ve upgraded my machine to Windows 7, which is fast and shiny and working great, but now my USDA calorie counter program doesn’t work.
I could work around it but within a day or two, Cliff will fix the program he made me and it will all be so much simpler. Also, my numbers are a bit sketchy ANYWAY so putting in the effort for an approximate count seems not worth it.
However, I AM noting the meals here to make sure I’m not tempted into eating a pound of Brie. Read the rest of this entry »
