Day 192: First dial-up

2:20pm  Sweet & sour carrot and bean soup + toast + peach

I spent the morning on the phone with BT, getting frustrated. I made a soup as I’d had the carrots since before the move. I added a whole bunch of celery, a pear, red onion, a can of beans and a can of sweet & sour sauce. Very yum.

  1. I’ve noticed a couple of times that you’ve described feeling a bit down and then eating something (usually sweet). You also noted in your last entry that it doesn’t make you feel good for long. Is there a way you can break the association between feeling low and eating to feel better?

  2. Yes, I’m aware I’m self medicating with chocolate as well as pigging out to celebrate.

I’m more concerned with the latter as there are usually more excuses to pig out than days of deep depression when I just want to curl up in bed in a darkened room.

I don’t feel too bad about having a single square of chocolate once or twice a month. However, I do agree that both associations – mood-motivated eating – are unhealthy.

  3. It might make you laugh to hear that we lost all connectivity over the weekend. Yesterday when the man from Telefonica came, he plugged a phone into the line and rang it. Imagine his surprise when a man down the road answered the phone – turned out he had requested a new phone line and they had given him ours…

  4. Uhuh, I saw your tweets at the time; it’s still too soon after our loss of connectivity to find yours funny yet… :-/
