Day 209: Movers’ dinner

1pm  Cheese salad

I had a quick small salad before going to the supermarket to buy food for dinner. We had the neighbours over who’d helped carry our stuff from our old to new house. I forgot to photograph lunch.

From 7pm  1970s-themed dinner

I had:

  • several fresh pineapple & half-fat cheddar on cocktail sticks
  • a vegetarian picnic (Scotch) egg
  • prawn cocktail crisps
  • a large green olive
  • a stuffed boiled egg (yolk, half-fat cheese, low-fat mayo & cress)
  • a slice each of tomato tart & mushroom tart (puff pastry, Quark, goat cheese and veg)
  • fresh strawberries
  • dressed watercress, spinach and rocket salad
  • trifle (chocolate marble cake, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, jelly, low-fat custard, light squirty cream + grated chocolate)
  • jam doughnut stuffed with light squirty cream
  • several party ring biscuits
  • fruit water
  • a snowball (advocaat, lime juice & lemonade)
  • coffee with double cream (bought to whip up for the trifle)


It is true that I had a very lackadaisical attitude towards what I ate. I had too many sugary things for the occasion.

I gave Tom’s mum half the cheese and pineapple sticks, the remaining three jam doughnuts, squirty cream and baguette to take home with her.

On clearing up, I saw a small pile of crisps and started to scoff them before Frank could ‘catch me’. I’d intended to eat the whole lot but they had already started to go stale. We threw them away – I now have a sore tummy and so I am glad I didn’t eat more.
