Day 26 – Saturday Outing

Posted by Georgina

I did fairly well today considering I had a “blow the diet” trip out with the kids to a local countryside centre and cafe. I was conscious that it was likely to be a doozy, so kept all other meals low and got a 65 minute walk in on the way there too. However, to be fair, eating out isn’t an exact science so the cals are a bit handwavy – hopefully not too far out though.

Meal Food | Drink Calories
Breakfast Tesco BREAKFAST CEREAL Rice Snaps 76
Milk 3.7% fat 61
Cup of Tea 49
Total 186

Skipped the fruit bar to keep cals low.

Meal Food | Drink Calories
Lunch BREAD White, Toasted 172
Butter salted 72
Sainsbury’s PATE Chicken Liver, BGTY 54
Tropicana SMOOTHIE – Strawberry & Banana 135
Total 433

I was pleasantly surprised with this – would have thought pate would have been more calorie dense.

Meal Food | Drink Calories
Afternoon Tea 120ml Pot of Farmhouse Strawberry Icecream 275
Gingerbread Man 93
Total 368

My guilty pleasure. Although, it has to be said, if I’d realised such a small pot of icecream was going to be THAT many calories, I might have skipped the gingerbread man!!

Meal Food | Drink Calories
Dinner Beef Stew 270
Total 270

I was surprised at how low cal this was too – I used a very lean piece of casserole steak (and only a small amount, padded with lots of veg). Very tasty and filling.

Meal Food | Drink Calories
Late WINE Red 122
Cadbury HOT CHOCOLATE Instant Break 119
Total 241

I used wine in the casserole and as the bottle was open and I had some spare in my daily target…

Meal Food | Drink Calories
Exercise Walk to and from Countryside Centre -158
Total -158

What was really nice was that the kids enjoyed the walk too. Am going to make an effort to get them out walking more places on a more regular basis – will do us all some good.

Meal Food | Drink Calories
Breakfast Cereal and a cup of tea 186
Lunch Pate on toast and a smoothie 433
Afternoon Tea Luxury icecream and a gingerbread man 368
Dinner Beef Stew 270
Late Glass of red wine and a hot chocolate 241
Exercise Walk to local countryside centre with the kids -158
Total 1,340

Conclusion: could have been worse and although not brilliant nutritionally, we had a fab afternoon out and I didn’t go over target. It’s a win.
