2:20pm  Vegetarian chilli

I’ve been calling it tomatoes, mince and beans with dumplings but Becky once referred to chilli and so, sans dumplings, this is what I shall be calling it too. The Abel & Cole box arrived in time to add courgettes to it.

9pm  Kale with chicken and gravy + apple

Okay, I made gravy from Bisto powder this evening. I didn’t need to boil it, adding boiled water thickened it fine. But, despite being thick and brown, it had no flavour. I added salt and pepper. Not sure how to give it some oomph.

  1. I don’t really know that Bisto can taste of much other than salty. Mushroom gravy from bouillon is very flavourful, I’m wondering if there is a bisto-style ready made version of that you could try?

  2. Mushroom gravy sounds mega yum.

I went for Bisto Powder as it was the lowest-calorie vegetarian option in that brand. Ginni and Georgina recommended gravy with cabbage. It’s their fault!

The ingredients make it obvious why it’s not flavourful: potato starch, salt, wheat starch, colour, dried yeast, onion powder. I’m gonna use it as a thickening agent instead.
