  1. I didn’t do much running or stretching for balls! Tom (11) soon joined me playing the young kid (who had turned up on the next court to train with his dad) and so Tom did all the running!

I was a table tennis player when I was younger and didn’t play tennis a great deal, just messing around at the park a few times. I hadn’t realised, for instance, that you need to hold the racket with both hands to hit a backhand. And thwacking a ball sure does jar your wrist! Tennis players must have strong wrists!

Anyway, I’d like to do it again but with an adult player and proper clothes (not the three jumpers and jeans I had on before).

  2. I’m just trying to get up the nerve to start up a 6-week jogging routine that “should” get me back into shape, although this might be the wrong time of year to commit to being outdoors. Then again, in the summer it’s too hot.

Maybe I’ll just go back to sit ups.
